What ‘Figures of Fun’ offers |
|
The tuition and guidance that we offer in 'Figures of Fun' - a 76 page guide, are based on many years of study and practice of art and art history, illustration, book design and comic drawing. We will tell you three big secrets of drawing cartoons: observation – learning to look at the world around you and its people. simplification – reducing complicated scenes to simple lines and areas, exaggeration – adding your own vision to the reality of what you see.
We will show you how to look at people and turn them into comic characters. This will allow you to express your views on the funny old world around you.
The course begins with the familiar smiley face and its opposite number – the sad face. The only difference is the position of the mouth. We show you how scores of human emotions can be depicted in cartoons, simply by re-arranging a few dots and dashes. And these faces can appear on a variety of heads and figures, performing different actions and expressing themselves with hand signals and body-language.
This course will teach you to look at your fellow human-beings with a critical and humorous eye, and put you on the road to becoming a 'successful' cartoonist.
